We have managed to compose a Rough Cut for our music video 'I See'. Below is the final project.
We then created a voice over for our rough cut to analyse the video on what parts worked best, what didn't and what needed to be filmed again.
WHAT WORKED WELL
- We particularly liked the opening scene and thought it was a good call to have an acting scene before the track started. We feel that when an audience watches the clip, they will be able to fully understand the narrative.
- The stand out shot in our video has to be the 'Kiss Scene'. For all its awkwardness when filming it turned out exceptionally well and we will definitely use this in our final project.
- A hidden gem in our rough cut was the shot of Joe and Louise singing outside in the gazebo. We really liked the chemistry between the two and the overall feel of the shot looked really good. Although we may have to re-film this shot so as the lip sync is correct, we will definitely experiment with using it in our final project.
- Our choice of editing it as a black and white piece of footage was further cemented.
PROBLEMS
- We didn't have an audio track so we were working off a video we had recorded of them singing the song and just had the sound detached and used that as our track.
- Some of the footage was out of focus and even more so when we converted the colour to black and white.
- We had to use the same piece of footage over and over again as we originally thought we had recorded enough footage. However when it came to the editing process, we hardly had any useable footage.
- As we didn't have the audio track the lip synching throughout the video is really out.
